On February 9th, Debbie Rambeau, Executive Director of Hockey Eastern Ontario, wrote a letter addressed to The Honourable Carla Qualtrough, P.C., M.P., Minister of Sport and Physical Activity in support of Play On! Canada.
Within the letter Rambeau advocates for Play On! Canada funding and return to Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
Rambeau shares that "HEO (Hockey Eastern Ontario), a Member of Hockey Canada, is very excited [...] to see this non-profit organization thrive and bring Canadians from coast to coast together to play street hockey. [...] The last few years have been tough on Canadians both young and old and bringing this opportunity for friends, family, teammates to participate in one form of "Canada's" game is exciting to see."
Rambeau maintains HEO is hopeful that "[Play On!] is able to secure the full amount of required funding for the project."
The City of Ottawa has made a significant three year funding commitment to the project conditional on Federal support.
